The DeFi Education Fund has called for regulatory safeguards for cryptocurrency developers following its review of a draft market structure bill. The group, backed by industry heavyweights including a16z Crypto, Paradigm, and Uniswap, emphasized the need for a tech-neutral approach in crafting the Responsible Financial Innovation Act of 2025 (RFA).

Republican leaders on the Senate Banking Committee, including Chairman Tim Scott and Digital Assets Subcommittee Chair Cynthia Lummis, released the discussion draft. The proposal builds upon the CLARITY Act recently passed in the House. "We share the same goal: provide clear rules of the road for digital assets," stated Scott, who aims to pass the legislation before October.

This push comes after the successful passage of the GENIUS Act for stablecoins, signed into law by former President Trump. The DeFi Education Fund's response highlights growing tensions between innovation and regulation in the cryptocurrency space.
